Coleraine is laying the foundations for sustainable growth, by investing heavily in public services and infrastructure. There has been an unprecedented level of private sector investment in the town since 1997.
Recent developments include:
Diamond Shopping Centre
£23 million development providing an additional 140,000 sq ft of retail provision right in the heart of the town. Opened in 2002.
Integrated Bus and Rail Centre
The £2 million award-winning terminal offers the latest in customer facilities. Coupled with recent improvements to the Belfast/Coleraine line and substantial investment in new trains has significantly upgrade public transport infrastructure.
Causeway Hospital
The £55 million regional hospital offers modern health care facilities in attractive surroundings.
Riverside Retail Park
Situated on the edge-of-town, the Retail Park successfully balances the town centre retail offer. Current tenants include Sainsburys, Curry’s, JJB Sports, Burger King and Macdonald’s. New Developments include Fitness First, B&Q Superstore, Premier Inn, Lidl and the multi-activity Jet Centre complex.
Civic Centre
The £6 million investment in local government offices and services has become the symbol of a forward-looking region.
Retail Development
Coleraine has changed beyond all recognition over the last ten years. In 1988 there were 11 national retailers. Today Coleraine accommodates a total of 104 national retailers and 203 independent stores.
Anderson Park
Few towns can boast high quality green space such as Anderson Park with a family play park, Rose Gardens and tennis courts. A Sculpture Park is also planned.
Millennium Footbridge
Provides access for pedestrians and cyclists to the town centre. It is a key link to the Sustrans National Cycle Network.
CCTV System
Coleraine has a total of 12 cameras throughout the town centre, linked into the other towns of Portrush and Portstewart. Coleraine town centre is also covered by a successful Radiolink scheme..
Coleraine Science Park
This 45-acre site on the University Campus is attracting international companies in the biotechnology field.
