About Coleraine

Coleraine Coleraine is the main town or ‘Capital of the Causeway Coast’. The Borough has a resident population of 57,000. Coleraine is identified as the regional centre for the North East and services a catchment area in excess of 200,000. The main campus and administrative headquarters of the University of Ulster are located in Coleraine and accommodates over 5,000 students during semesters.

Coleraine Borough is top of the league for tourism in Northern Ireland. A host of international events, the outstanding beauty of the Causeway Coast, blue flag beaches and championship golf courses attracts over 2 million visitors annually.

Commercial investment in Coleraine over the last 10 years has brought significant changes to the townscape and infrastructure of the town. Major environmental improvement work has resulted in a cosmopolitan vibrant pedestrian street-scape. Investment in the £33million Causeway Hospital, £2million Bus & Rail exchange, £45million Science Park, £6million Civic Centre, £23million Diamond Shopping Centre represent some of the major changes to the town over the past decade. Five key development sites have been identified and future investment in these areas will enhance the town’s retail, cultural and leisure offer further.
